Fit

Our products are mainly focused on standard guitars with a scale of 628 to 648 mm (24.75 to 25.5 inches). So it doesn’t matter if you own an acoustic or electric guitar, if you prefer Stratocaster or Les Paul or if you prefer a certain brand as long as the scale length is within this range. In addition, some of our inlay stickers are also suitable for bass guitars. The matching products are marked accordingly. Our inlay stickers are not suitable for installation on other stringed instruments such as classical guitars, ukulele or banjo. To make sure that your guitar is suitable for our products, we explain what you have to pay attention to and how you can quickly find out the scale length of your guitar yourself if in doubt.

What is the scale of a guitar?

This is explained quite simply:the scale is the length of the free-swinging strings – in other words, the area between saddle and bridge.. Based on the entire scale length, a factor can be used to calculate the distances between the frets and the nut. We use exactly this principle to ensure the fit of our fretlook inlay stickers. In order to guarantee a maximum accuracy of fit, we orientate ourselves on the most frequently used sizes on the guitar market.

Scale overview

Among the standard guitars, Gibson starts with the short scale. The Nashville-based manufacturer uses a 628 mm (24.75″) scale on its models . The short scale has a rather less direct response (also called attack), which produces a very soft and warm sound. The opposite is the long scale used by Fender. The scale of 648 mm (25.5″) has a very fast response, which produces a clear and fat sound. It is also the most widely used scale on the market. The manufacturer PRS (Paul Reed Smith) is635 mm (25″) scale exactly in the middle and combines the advantages of both competitors in its models. Other manufacturers, especially the own brands of many music stores and shops, are based on the scale lengths of Gibson, Fender and Co.

Measure the scale length yourself

You don’t know the scale of your guitar and you are not sure if our fretlook inlay stickers fit? This is not a problem, because you can easily measure it by yourself. All you need is a folding rule or a tape measure. Tip: The scale length is the length of the free-swinging strings. To determine the scale length, you measure the strings from the point where they come out of the bridge to the point where they disappear in the saddle. If the measured value is between 628 and 648 mm (24.75 and 25.5″), our inlay stickers will fit your guitar perfectly.

Bass guitars

Shortly after the release of our products, we received many inquiries whether our inlay stickers are also suitable for bass guitars. Immediately we started an extensive fitting to check if the installation of our products is also possible on basses. The result: Yes! The majority of our inlay stickers also fit on bass guitars. In contrast to standard guitars, they can be attached without any problems regardless of the construction (precision or jazz bass) or scale length (short-scale to super-long-scale). But before ordering you should check the number of your frets with the number of inlay stickers included in the delivery.
