Application

Our fretlook inlay stickers can be applied quickly and easily and – with a little skill – you don’t even have to loosen or remove the strings. We explain you step-by-step how the application works, what you need for it and what you should pay attention to. First of all: fretlook inlay stickers last only best when the surface is free of dust, dirt and grime. Depending on the condition of your guitar, you should clean your fretboard before the application. After cleaning with detergents or oils (e.g. Dunlop Lemon Oil etc.), you should wait at least one day before you apply the inlay stickers so that the oil are completely absorbed and the fretboard no longer sweats. We would be happy to explain how to clean your guitar.

Step 2: Installation

  • Cut off all inlay stickers along their entire length. Cut as close as possible to the sticker so that you can easily remove the transfer film after sticking it on
  • Peel the transfer film off the blue paper, the sticker will stick to the transfer film
  • Tip: Start with the frets that have a dot
  • Slide the transfer film and sticker through under the strings at the level of the sound hole (for acoustic guitars) or the pickups (for electric guitars)
  • Position the transfer film including sticker below the strings in the middle of the fret to be installed
  • Press the transfer film down on both sides so that the sticker sits over the entire surface and in the middle of the fret
  • Smooth out the sticker and the transfer film with the included pick
  • Repeat these steps for all of the inlay stickers until you have installed them all
  • Tip: Wait 30 minutes so that the stickers can set. To pass the waiting time, listen to our fretlook playlist on Spotify. See you soon!

Step 3: Peel off the transfer film

  • Carefully peel off the transfer film on each bundle in turn
  • Tip: Grab the film on the right and left and twist it in from top to bottom while you peel it off
  • All fretlook inlay stickers are designed for a maximum number of frets. If there are more stickers than your guitar has frets, you can put the remaining stickers aside
  • The leftover materials, such as transfer film and blue backing paper, can be disposed of with household waste
