Welcome to the pick heaven! Guitar Pleks are available in many different materials, but hardly any material is as sound intensive as wood. Each type of wood produces its own unique tone color and creates an unmistakable sound. If these characteristics are combined with traditional and real craftsmanship, you get something wonderful – our fretlook wooden picks. In our factory near Milan, in the Italian Lombardy, every step of the work is still done by hand, so that each of our wooden picks is absolutely unique. Far away from any machine manufacturing and mass production, unique pieces are created that inspire musicians of all styles equally. We would like to give you an insight into the manufacturing process.

The material is decisive

The process starts with the selection of the right materials. For our fretlook wood picks we use maple, zebrano, boxwood and padouk wood from sustainable and ecological sources. All four wood types are characterized by their resistance and excellent sound characteristics. After the blanks are cut out, they are ground to the desired thickness. The material thickness of approx. 2.5 mm ensures that the picks are ideally suited for both strumming and picking.

The legendary 351

The drop shape No. 351, which was developed by Fender together with pick manufacturer d’Andrea, is still the most widely used pick shape. And not without reason – the comfortable tip allows an unerring picking, but also glides smoothly over the strings when strumming. The widening upper side provides sufficient support. So it was clear to us that we would follow the legendary 351 to make the unmistakable sound of our wooden picks usable for every style. The interplay of shape and material thickness is made perfect by the “final touch” of the edges.

A wonderful surface

Each pick is treated with oil before completion to close the wood pores and seal the surface. Dirt and moisture cannot penetrate into the wood. The natural grain of the wood, together with the gently burnt-in logo applications, ensures ideal grip when playing. We are proud to be able to offer you with this traditional production a product that is unequalled in terms of sound quality and playing feel.
